I Want To Make A Difference But I Don’t Know How.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life. There are so many potential career paths for me but I just don’t know what they are. I feel like I’ve considered every job out there but I keep finding something that deters me from each one. I can’t quite put a title on what it is, but I am certain of what I stand for, as well as the things I would like to accomplish through my ultimate career. Below are a list of words/phrases that represent who I ultimately want to become…

Leader

Teacher (not academic)

Nurturer

Inspirational

Trustworthy

Confident

Decisive

Comforting

Important

Fulfilled

Experience Oriented (Non-materialistic)

Family Oriented

Make an impact on peoples’ lives, especially children

Provide assistance to those who need it

Create a Safe Space somehow

Entrepreneur

Follow My Heart

Actually make a decent living

Creativity

Fun & Playful

Performing Arts (somewhere in the mix)

Laughter

LOVE

I don’t know what career combines all of these ideals, but if anyone has an answer, I would LOVE to hear it. What career does this sound like to you? Leave a comment below if you’d like to help me out. 🙂

Sincerely,

A Frustrated 21 Year Old

  1. Breanna, where did you go? I hope you’ll consider returning to this blog. I stumbled upon your blog when Googling for a “Oh The Places You’ll Go!” page image of “The Waiting Room” pages in that book. I read your “I want to make a difference but don’t know how post” and could only respond “Amen.” I myself am 47 and still refining the answer to that “question” (for myself). I want to let you know two things. (1) Your blog touched me…made me feel not so alone and frustrated…if only for a little bit….and reading other parts of it, it is inspiring me a bit to do more and not give up in frustration. I feel so down every ten years or so but then life gets better than ever before. You are a little bit of unexpected sunshine to start pushing back this latest round of darkness and unleashing the next sprouting. Thanks! (2) I think you are already well on your way answering that question for your life. Just based on what you have here, you’re doing more than most people I’ve meet in my 47 years. You are off to a great start. I hope things are going well for you. Stay true to your ideals. It will often be frustrating, but I’m still believing it’s the right path.

    1. Wow! Thank you so so much for your response. I actually lost my way for a little bit and forgot about this blog but I am back. I intend to continue and possibly start a new one as well. I’m so excited that I was able to reach out to someone and brighten their day. I apologize for just getting back to your comment after such a long time. I’ve been back and forth between working, school, relationships, hospitals, and so forth.I’d tell you more, but I guess I should probably just make a post about it, huh? Thanks again and stay blessed!
